Ricardo Riddles grew up with his grandmother on a small farm near Stilbaai (On the east Coast). His first work as a young boy were to help his grandmother pick indigenous wildflowers and protea’s which they dried out and sold to the overseas market. From there his love for the South African environment fauna and flora started. In 2003 he studied at the Cape Peninsula University of technology where he successfully finished his national Diploma in Horticulture. As part of his internship he worked at the very prestige’s South African National Botanical garden Kirstenbosch. In 2009 Ricardo was appointed at the Karoo Desert National Botanical Garden in Worcester as head Horticulturist. He later finished his Degree in Horticulture and has been head of the Botanical garden for the last years.  

His passion for the environment and exposure to the tourism industry has led to the establishment of KC Tours and Adventures. Ricardo is a registered tour guide and would like to share his knowledge of the Breede valley, the flora, fauna, award winning wine farms and various activities established between the amazing high mountains of the Cape Fold Belt, with the Hex River Mountains and the Skurweberge to the northwest, the Langeberg Mountains (up to 2000m) to the north, the smaller Boland Mountains to the southwest, and the Riviersonderend Mountains to the south.
